The environment and landscape of coastal dunes
of Swina Gate Barrier

About the project

This web page originates from results of investigations carried out by author under master of science topic on coastal dunes of Swina Gate Barrier since 1997. Also originates from studies carried out in Laboratory of Marine Geomorphology Institute of Marine Sciences since 1998:
  • Plant cover of coastal dunes as an indicator of coastal zone dynamics (own researches in 2000)
  • Factors influencing on dynamics and diversity of coastal dune environment (own researches in 2001)
  • Succession of plants and dynamics of coastal dune development (own researches in 2002)
  • Morphology of coastal dunes of Swina Gate Barrier (own researches in 2003)
  • Present-day morphodynamics of coastal dunes of Pomeranian Bay (own researches in 2004)
  • Plants as an indicator of coastal dune dynamics of Swina Gate Barrier (KBN - State Committee for Scientific Research - grant, 3 PO4E 057 24 in years 2003-2004)

This web page is also part of author's researches on whole coastal dunes called ANDDY (Anthropogenic-Natural Dunes Dynamics)

Presented area belongs to coastal zone of Pomeranian Bay that is localised in western part of Polish coast. It lies on Wolin (12 km of coast) and Uznam (4 km of coast in Polish borders) Islands. Geographically this area belongs to Western Pomeranian region.
